Clownfish

Everyone knows Nemo! But did you know that there are other species of clownfish, and even a few different colors? Regular ocellaris clowns are typically the best fit for any tank under 75 gallons, and make a wonderful addition to larger tanks as well. These come in a variety of patterns and can vary in shades of orange or black. There are even white clownfish!

Compatibility: Most tanks can support a pair of clownfish, if they get along, but we advise against adding more than two individuals to a tank of any size. Clownfish of any species are incredibly territorial towards each other and adding more than a pair is asking for bloodshed. Unlike for most species, a larger tank isn't often enough to change this.

Anemones: Most people know about the relationship between clownfish and anemones. The two live together and help keep each other safe and healthy. This can usually be seen in aquariums, too! We only have one species of anemone, but our clownfish will also happily live in various soft corals as well. If you would like to learn more, please visit our Coral and Anemone page.

Orange Ocellaris Clownfish

Minimum Tank Size: 30 gallons

The classic clown, ocellaris are one of the hardiest and easiest fish to care for. They can sometimes get a little territorial, but are generally easy-going. We normally try to keep a pair of clowns, but they can live solo just fine.

 Black Ocellaris Clownfish

Minimum Tank Size: 30 gallons

Black Ocellaris are the exact same as their orange siblings, just a different color. They can even form pairs with orange clowns and will happily live together in an anemone or certain soft corals. Just like the orange, we don't recommend keeping more than two clownfish together.
